No. 14 Women's Water Polo Splits Two Contests; Scores 24 in Win over Fresno Pacific

CLAREMONT – The No. 14 Princeton Women's Water Polo Team earned a split on Saturday at the Convergence Tournament at Haldeman Pool.
No. 7 Loyola Marymount 10, Princeton 8
After two goals from Loyola Marymount to begin the game, tallies from Vivian Golub and Charlotte Riches tied the contest after eight minutes.
Golub and Kendall Wyer started off the second quarter with goals which led to Princeton taking a 4-3 lead into halftime.
The Lions began the second half with consecutive goals before Ava Houlahan's tied the game at 5-all with 3:53 to go in the third frame. The two squads exchanged tallies before LMU got one with eight seconds to go to make it 7-6 as the fourth stanza began.
Olivia Krotts tied the game 45 seconds into the fourth, but LMU countered with two more to go in front, 9-7. Shanna Davidson got one back with 3:29 on the clock, but Princeton couldn't find the equalizer.
Golub and Wyer led the Tigers with two goals each while Lindsey Lucas made 13 saves in the loss.
No. 14 Princeton 24, Fresno Pacific 4
The Tigers recorded 24 goals in the game which are the second most in a single-game in program history, trailing only a 27-4 win over George Washington on March 8th, 1997.
Princeton ripped off eight goals in the first quarter before seven more in the second frame to go up 15-2 at the break. After two more tallies in the third, the Tigers ran off seven more to finish with 24 in the contest.
Charlotte Riches set a new career high with five goals to pace the offense while six others had multiple goal performances in Wyer (three), Krotts (two), Margaret Brandin (two), Davidson (two), Didi Evans (two) and Ally Lurie (two).
CJ Weigel and Sophie Bollyky Purcell combined for four saves in the win. Princeton will continue its Spring Break trip at No. 25 Pomona-Pitzer Wednesday at 7 p.m.
