PRINCETON – The No. 6 Princeton Women's Open Rowing Team will race in two sessions on Saturday at Lake Carnegie.
The morning session gets underway at 8 a.m. with the second varsity and goes on until about 11:30 a.m. After a one-hour break for lunch, the afternoon session gets going at 1:08 p.m. with Harvard and Virginia. The Tigers' first event of the afternoon is at 1:40 p.m.
The first varsity will race against No. 17 Harvard and Cornell for the Class of 1975 Cup with No. 8 Syracuse in the event as well. Princeton has won the last 10 Class of 1975 Cups and haven't not lost the Cup since 2013. The Tigers raced Syracuse last season, topping the Orangewomen by 12.4 seconds, the first regular season event between the two since 2021.
Two weeks ago, head coach Lori Dauphiny's crew won four of five races against No. 7 Brown on Lake Carnegie. Princeton's 1V kept the Class of 1987 Trophy earning a 7:16.1 while Brown nabbed a 7:22.8.
Princeton is coming off a season that saw the 1V win Ivy League gold for the eighth straight season. The Tigers' sixth place finish at NCAAs in the team standings marked the 10th top-ten finish for the program in the last 13 NCAA regattas.
Joely Cherniss and Laoise O'Donohue were honored as CRCA Athletes To Watch prior to the season. Cherniss has rowed on the 1V each of her two seasons with Princeton, recording two Ivy League first varsity gold medals. O'Donohoue has nabbed four medals at the Ivy League Rowing Championships including two golds with the third varsity in 2023 and varsity four in 2024. She also nabbed a silver medal with the four at NCAAs in 2024.
