No. 7 Women's Open Rowing Set For Ivy Rowing Championships This Weekend

PRINCETON – The No. 7 Princeton Women's Open Rowing Team heads to Cooper River this weekend for the Ivy League Rowing Championships.
Action begins on Saturday at 4 p.m. with beginning of heat races with the B4. Sunday's racing will be the Petite and Grand Finals starting at 8 a.m., with the C4. The Grand Final for the varsity eight is at 9:40 a.m. The award ceremony is at 10:50 a.m. The full schedule can be seen in the link above.
The winner of the Varsity Eight Grand Final will be crowned the Ivy League Champion and will be awarded the Ivy League Champion Trophy. The Team Trophy will be presented to the team with the highest point total across all boats. The League's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship will be awarded to the team with the most points across the three NCAA boats (V8, 2V8 and V4).
Last year, Princeton's 1V won its eighth straight Ivy League gold as it ripped off a blistering time of 6:01.19 to take down previously unbeaten Yale by 3.8 seconds. It was the eighth consecutive victory for the 1V at Ivies and 10th in the past 11 events. Princeton was second to Yale for the Sally P. Shoemaker Trophy and the Ivy League's NCAA automatic qualifier by one point (45-44).
This season, head coach Lori Dauphiny's crew began by taking down No. 7 Brown for the Class of 1987 Trophy. A few weeks later, the team followed up with victories over No. 17 Harvard and Cornell for the Class of 1975 Cup and No. 8 Syracuse.
Princeton suffered its first losses of the campaign to No. 4 Tennessee and No. 3 Yale. The Tigers did cross in front of No. 8 Virginia. Princeton's second varsity finished with a quicker time than Yale as did its varsity four, its third varsity (6:58.2) and varsity four C (7:46.0).
Dauphiny's team headed to the Midwest and defeated No. 16 Ohio State and No. 17 Michigan before finishing off the regular season with decisions over No. 11 UCF and No. 20 Penn.
The NCAA Rowing Selection Show will be on NCAA.com on Tuesday, May 19th at 5 p.m. The NCAA Rowing Championships will take place at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Georgia from May 29th-31st.
