Men's Basketball

- Title:
- Assistant Coach
"I'm excited for Dan to be joining the Princeton family," Mitch Henderson '98, the Franklin C. Cappon-Edward G. Green '40 head coach of Princeton men's basketball said. "His familiarity with the Princeton style, from playing in a great program under Chris Mooney ('94) at Richmond, will be an asset to us as Dan transitions into the coaching ranks."
Geriot, a 6-foot-9 center, is the second member of the current Princeton staff with Richmond connections, as assistant coach Marcus Jenkins was on the Spiders' staff last season as well.
"To join the Princeton staff and family is a tremendous honor, especially under Coach Henderson," Geriot said. "I am extremely excited about this opportunity and hope that my years at Richmond with Coach Mooney and now Coach Henderson's guidance can help me transition well into coaching."
Richmond increased its win total as Geriot's playing career continued, from an eight-win season his freshman year to a 16-15 campaign as a sophomore in 2008. After he missed the 2009 season while recovering from knee surgery, Geriot returned to the floor for a 26-9 redshirt junior season that saw Richmond return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004. As a senior, Geriot scored double-digit points 18 times while helping the Spiders to their first Sweet 16 since 1988.
For his career, Geriot averaged 10.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while exhibiting the all-around game of big men in the Princeton system. He hit 37.3 percent (97 of 260) of his 3-point attempts and notched 266 career assists. Geriot finished his career 17th on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,386 points after becoming just the 12th junior in school history to clear the thousand mark.
Geriot was a 2007 Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team pick and a third-team All-Atlantic 10 selection as a sophomore while leading the Spiders in scoring in each of his first two seasons.
Geriot is a native of Springfield, Pa., where he earned Delaware County Player of the Year honors after averaging a double-double with 24.8 points and 10.8 rebounds as a senior at Springfield High.
