A professional athlete, Robby Andrews has been an assistant coach with the Princeton track & field team since 2013.
A 2016 Olympian, Andrews trains with Princeton head coach Jason Vigilante, his coach since he was a collegian at University of Virginia. Andrews was a semifinalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 1500 meters, where he was disqualified in the semifinal round for stepping inside of the curb on the final straight away. A year later he found redemption winning the the 2017 USA Track & Field Championships, outkicking gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz to win the title.
Andrews is a two-time NCAA champion in the 800, winning in 2010 and 11. His personal best are 1:44.71 in the 800 and 3:34.78 in the 1500. A three-time All-America and a Bowerman semifinalist, Andrews finished fifth in at the 2012 US Olympic Trials in the 1500. He earned a bronze medal at the IAAF World Juniors and was a finalist at the 2011 US Championship in the 800. Andrews won two Penn Relays Championship of America relays with the 4x800 in 2010 and 2011 and was named the Outstanding Male Relay Performer at the 2011 Penn Relays. During his junior year he was named the ACC Performer of the Year and was honored with the ACC Sportsmanship Award.
A native of Manalapan, Andrews holds the US national high school records in both the indoor 800 and 1000.
