Princeton Men's Track and Field Takes Second At Penn State, UConn Tri-Meet

Denbo won the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 58' 8.50" bettering his qualifying mark (57' 7") from last week at the National Open. Freshman Rocky Craley was third (53' 7") in the shot. McCaughey won the 35 lb. weight throw with a qualifying toss of 64' 5", six and half inches less than his qualifying throw from last weekend at the Open. Jessup set a new meet record with his win in the pole vault (16' 8.75"), breaking the old record by eight inches. Asfaw won the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:25.93, followed closely by Tristan Colangelo in third (2:27.19). Pat Anglin set a new meet record with his win the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:20.03.
Cameron Atkinson placed third in the 60-meter dash (6.98) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.83). John Karakoulakis (49.96), James Murphy (49.97) and Martin Rawls-Meehan (50.21) went four-five-six for the Tigers in the 400-meter dash. Ryan Smith placed second (1:53.08) followed by Josh Kauke in third place (1:53.97) in the 800 meters. Jon Bell (4:11.86) and Biren Roy (4:12.51) placed second and third in the mile run and David Gary (45' .25"), Marcus Ford-Bey (43' 7") and Charles Brown (43' 3.75") placed fourth, fifth and sixth in the triple jump. The 4x400 relay team (3:17.57) and the 4x800 relay team (7:42.39) placed second.
Princeton will host the H-Y-P track and field meet on Feb. 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Jadwin Gym.
