Heavyweight Crew Race Postponed

Annapolis, Md. - The Princeton vs. Navy men's heavyweight crew race was postponed on Saturday afternoon due to poor weather conditions on the Severn River in Annapolis, Md. The Princeton men, scheduled to open the season with today's race, must wait another week to commence the 2002 campaign.
"Our lower course was unrowable due to the rolling of the water," said Navy head coach Rick Clothier. "We then took a look at using our upper course and the first half of the course would have been difficult, but rowable. However, the last half of the race had the same conditions as what we had on the lower course, so we felt it was in our best interest to no race today."
The two schools are working to find an alternative date for the race, with it most likely taking place on Carnegie Lake instead of the Severn. More information on the re-scheduled race will be available later.
The Princeton heavyweights open the year at home next Saturday, April 6 with Rutgers on Lake Carnegie.
