ITHACA, N.Y. - After a strong showing at the Ivy scrimmages, the Princeton women's squash team had high hopes for the 2003-04 season. It certainly got off on the right foot, defeating Toronto 8-1 and Cornell 9-0.
Princeton won 17 of the 18 matches by a 3-0 score, losing only at the No. 1 spot against Toronto. Sophomore Ruchika Kumar, an All-America selection last season, bounced back quickly against American competition and won 3-0 against Cornell.
The match marked the debut of a trio of freshmen, led by No. 3 Genevieve Lessard, who won 3-0 in both matches. It also marked the return of captain Annie Rein-Weston, who traveled abroad last season and missed the spring.
