Anderson, Pearce Fuel Women's Hockey Sweep

Findlay, Ohio - Senior Gretchen Anderson and freshman Kim Pearce each had three points as the Princeton women's hockey team completed its weekend sweep of Findlay with a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon at Clauss Ice Arena. Princeton is now 4-0-0 all-time against Findlay.
Princeton outshot the Oilers 10-6 in the first period, but Findlay took an early 1-0 lead when Denelle Maguet tallied her sixth goal from Heidi Tallqvist and Hailey Clarkson at 3:47. The Tigers battled back from the deficit and drew even at 10:56 when Anderson scored her 17th goal of the season. The goal was unassisted.
Princeton controlled play in the second period, holding a 13-2 shot advantage. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead at the 7:31 mark when Pearce scored on the power play. Her fourth goal of the season was assisted by senior Susan Hobson. Princeton continued to pressure Findlay and with just over three minutes left in the period, got the eventual game-winner from Anderson. It was Anderson's 18th goal of the season and her fifth game-winner. With the goal she now in a three-way tie atop the nation in game-winning goals. Pearce and freshman Laura Watt added assists. Princeton scored its fourth goal just over a minute into the final period. The goal off the stick of Watt, capping a two-point game with her third goal of the season. Watt also posted a goal and an assist in yesterday's 4-1 win over Findlay and finished the weekend with four points. The goal was assisted by Pearce and Anderson. Pearce finished the weekend with two points and three assists, while Anderson had two goals and two assists in the pair of games.
Findlay would add a late goal off the stick of Maguet with less than a minute remaining in the game.
Princeton sophomore goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel made 12 saves to improve to 3-0-0 on the season and is 6-0-0 overall in her career.
Princeton is now 9-5-0 and enters the holiday break winners of two-straight games. Princeton is off until Jan. 9, 2004 when the Tigers visit Colgate in an ECAC contest. The Tigers however, will be in action, as the team will be traveling to Europe to play four games against international teams. Princeton's travels will take the team through several cities in Germany before winding up in Prague to usher in the New Year.
