Colangelo, Releford Meet NCAA Qualifying Marks At USTCA Meet

State College, Pa. - Tristen Colangelo and Tim Releford met NCAA Qualifying marks while Rocky Craley bettered is old mark to help Princeton place second at the USTCA Meet in State College, Pa. on Saturday. The Tigers scored 198.5 team points, besting Pennsylvania and Villanova.

Releford placed third in the javelin throw and not only registered a NCAA Qualifying mark, but also recorded the second-best throw in Princeton history. Releford's mark was 226-04; Rob Manning holds the record mark of 237-04.

Craley led the field events with his best put of the season. He won the shot put with a distance of 54-10, improving on his 54-01 at Coastal Carolina. Josh McCaughey won the hammer throw with a toss of 189-04 while Mark Smith placed second in the event with a 185-03. Princeton had three second-place finishers in the jumps with Mike Weishuhn taking silver in the high jump (6-06), Dwaine Banton placing second in the long jump (23-08.75) and Marcus Ford-Bey placing second in the triple jump (46-00.75).

Colangelo was one of three Tigers to win events on the track. His time of 9:07.45 was 11 seconds better than second-place finisher Nolan Tully of Pennsylvania. Senior David Dean won the 800-meter run in 1:52.76 to beat teammate Jonathan Kieliszak, who finished in 1:54.47.

Senior Cameron Atkinson took the 100-meter dash in 10.74 and senior Patrick Schottel placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.77.
