Ferrell Leads Women's Cross Country to 7th Place Finish at Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Junior Cack Ferrell ran a time of 20:52.1 over the 6,000-meter course at Indiana State University, finishing 10th overall, to lead the Princeton women's cross country team to a seventh-place finish in the "Blue" race at the 2004 NCAA Pre-National Meet Saturday afternoon.
The meet is a prelude to the NCAA championship meet that will take place at the same ISU course Nov. 24.
Ferrell's time was just 32 seconds behind that of race winner Alicia Craig of Stanford. Mia Swenson also ran a strong race for Princeton, finishing in 33rd overall in 21:27.8, while Meredith Lambert placed 44th in 21:37.3.
Stanford won the meet, taking four of the top 12 places and finishing with 49 points, outdistancing second-place Notre Dame. Princeton's 305 points just edged Indiana for seventh.
Other scorers for the Tigers were Marian Bihrle, who finished 92nd, and Suzanne Andrews, who placed 126th.
