Men's Cross Country Wins Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Led by a second-place finish from senior Austin Smith and a fourth-place finish from junior Frank McCreery, the Priceton men's cross country team finished first out of 18 teams at the 26th annual Spiked Shoe Cross Country Meet at Penn State's Blue & White Golf Courses Saturday morning.
Smith's time of 25:48.97 was less than a second off the lead, while McCreery just a little less than six seconds behind that.
The Tigers finished with 63 points, outdistancing second-place La Salle by seven points. Columbia, St. Joseph's and host Penn State rounded out the top five in the meet.
Five Princeton runners finished in the top 24 racers Saturday. Paul Rosa, a sophomore, was 13th, while freshman Frank Tinney was 21st in his first collegiate meet. Junior Ben Stern was 24th in 26:41 for the Tigers.
