NEW YORK - The Princeton women's track team won eight of 18 events at the Armory Invitational held in New York City Saturday night. The Tigers competed with Rider, Lafayette, La Salle and Navy at the meet.
The middle-distance and mile runs were keys to the Tigers' success Saturday night, as was the strong sprinting of senior Chanel Lattimer. Lattimer won the 200 meters in 25.94, nearly a second faster than second-place Melissa Mastrangelo of La Salle, and finished a close secodn in the 60 meters behind Navy's Loni Forsythe.
All-America Cack Ferrell led a Princeton top-four finish in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:14.39, while Heather Iatauro led a top-three Tigers finish in the 1,000 meters with a 2:56.52 performance. In the mile, Catha Mullen was the winner in 4:52.65. She also finished second behind Ferrell in the 800 meters.
Mullen's sister, Caroline, had an outstanding performance in the 3,000 meters, winning the race in 9:40.52 by more than nine seconds.
Brooke Minor was a Princeton winner in the high jump, clearing 1.68 meters, or better than 5 feet, 6 inches.
