TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Frank Macreery ran the 8,000 meters in 24:13 to finish 18th overall as the Princeton men's cross country team placed 11th out of 34 teams in the "White" race at the Pre-Nationals Invitational Saturday morning.
Macreery was the top Ivy League runner in the 34-team field, which also included Columbia, Yale and Harvard in addition to the Tigers. He finished only about 15 seconds from the top 10 in the race.
David Nightingale was 31st overall for Princeton, which finished with 366 points. Nightingale was 13 seconds behind Macreery in 24:26.
Two other Tiger runners finished in the top 100 in the race. Justin Pines was 85th in 25:02, while Michael Maag was 97th in 25:11.
Ben Stern was Princeton's other scorer in the race, finishing 135th in 25:32.
The Tigers finished well ahead of Columbia (18th), Yale (28th) and Harvard (32nd) in the field. Dartmouth finished in fifth place in the "Blue" race which preceded Princeton's race.
