Salmon Goal Lifts Women's Hockey to 2-2 Tie

Hamilton, N.Y. - Freshman Brittany Salmon scored 13:40 into the third period to knot the score at two as the Princeton women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie at Colgate. The game was Princeton's fourth overtime game in the past six as the Tigers are now 13-6-5 on the season and 7-5-3 in the ECAC Hockey League. Princeton climbed into fifth-place with the point.
After a scoreless first period, Princeton opened the scoring when senior Becky Stewart scored at 10:38 of the second period. Sophomores Kim Pearce and Liz Keady assisted on Stewart's fourth goal of the year. Colgate evened the score 1:41 later when Allison Paiano scored on the power play.
Maura Kehoe made it 2-1 for Colgate when she scored at 7:41 of the third, before Princeton evened things up on Salmon's goal at 13:40. Senior Katharine Maglione assisted on Salmon's third goal of the season.
Princeton junior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel made 27 saves for the tie, while Colgate's Brook Wheeler made 32. It was the second tie between the two teams this season, as earlier in Baker Rink the teams played to a 2-2 deadlock.
Princeton visits Vermont next Friday night.
