Hynes Sets School Heptathlon Record, Leads Tigers at Princeton Relays

Freshman Duane Hynes set a school men's heptathlon record and qualified provisionally for the NCAA championships to lead several Princeton winners at the 2006 Princeton Relays Sunday afternoon at Jadwin Gymnasium.
Hynes scored 5,329 points in the event to notch a new school mark, outdoing Rutgers' Trevor O'Grady by 52 points to earn the event victory.
Princeton also got an impressive performance from Ray Lenihan, who won both the preliminaries and the final in the 60 meter hurdles. He ran an 8.16 for the top prelim time and then blew away the competition with an 8.09 in the final.
Brett Campfield, a freshman, earned a victory in the mile run for the Tigers, running the eight laps around the 200-meter oval in 4:18.53. The Tigers also got a distance win from Kurt Kuehne, who took the 800 meters in 1:56.34.
The Tigers took the first four places in the 300-meter dash, with Brian Shields leading the way in 35:08. Ian Thomson, Bill Foran and Alex Julie also ran the one-and-a-half laps in less than 37 seconds.
Alex Willis had an outstanding performance in the high jump for the Tigers, winning the event with a jump of six foot, nine inches (2.06 meters).
