Kinzer?s Perfect Pass to Bortz Leads Princeton to NCAA Tournament Win Over Old Dominion

PRINCETON -- Freshman Tina Bortz capped an end-to-end rush with her sixth goal of the season to lift the Princeton field hockey team to a 3-2 overtime win over third-ranked Old Dominion in the first round of the 2006 NCAA Field Hockey Championships on Saturday afternoon at
Tied at 2-2 with less than two minutes left in overtime,
"All I can say is that it was a perfect pass," said Bortz. "We had been practicing fast breaks all week and we felt comfortable. It was just a perfect pass."
The first half was relatively quiet until a three-goal outbreak in the final 49 seconds of the half.
That set off a wild end to the half that saw Old Dominion's Dana Sensenig score twice to give the Lady Monarchs a 2-1 halftime lead. Her first goal came on a fast rush as she lobbed the ball over
"In the locker room, I just said that we 35 minutes left," said Princeton head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn. "We appraoched the second as if the game was scoreless and we never gave up."
Old Dominion, which had beaten Princeton 5-0 in the regular season, outshot
In overtime it was Nemeth's time to shine as she made six saves in the 14 minutes before the Tigers scored, including three on a penalty corner attempt just moments before Kinzer and Bortz connected for the game winner.
Nemeth made 16 saves for the win, while Driscoll stopped three shots in the loss. Old Dominion outcornered the Tigers 13-7.
