Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Mid-Atlantic Regional
November 11, 2006 | Men's Cross Country
The Princeton men's cross country team finished fourth out of 25 teams at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional race Saturday, not an automatic qualification into the national meet but possibly good enough for an at-large berth.
Junior David Nightingale was an impressive sixth overall individually in a time of 30:32 over the tough 10,000-meter course at Lock Haven University. Both Nightingale, as an individual, and the Tigers, as a team, will have to wait until Sunday night to see if they will be competing at the national meet next Monday in Indiana.
Princeton's fourth-place team score was 148. Georgetown won the meet with a score of 66, while American was second with 79 points and Villanova third with a score of 91.
For the Tigers, behind Nightingale, Michael Maag finished in 25th place in a time of 31:16. Paul Rosa (34th) and Ben Sitler (39th) gave Princeton four runners in the top 40 in the race.
Frank Tinney was the Tigers' final scorer, placing 44th overall. Tim O'Neill was 45th and Rob Grote finished in 90th.
