Bergold, Kloss, Pardo Lead Tigers at New Year Invitational

Liz Bergold and Karen Aherne finished 1-2 in the 1,000 meters and the Tigers got wins in the field events from Jess Kloss and Marta Pardo as Princeton opened the 2006-07 indoor track season with the annual New Year Invitational Friday night at Jadwin Gym.
Bergold ran the five laps around the Jadwin track in an impressive time of 2:58.95, the only competitor to finish in under three minutes. Aherne was right behind in second place in 3:00.70.
Kloss won the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, nine inches. She was the only collegiate competitor to clear the 11-foot mark. Pardo edged Monmouth's Brittany Gibbs in the triple jump with a jump of 11.09 meters.
Back on the track, Agatha Offorjebe was a close second in the 300 meter dash behind Rutgers' Jacqueline Todd, running the 1 1/2 laps in a time of 40.75. Offorjebe was fifth in the 60 meters in a time of 8.09 seconds.
Bergold and Aherne also helped Princeton finish third behind Monmouth and Rutgers in the mile relay. They joined Leanne Bellar and Melissa Swigert in finishing the eight laps in a time of 4:00.83.
Emma Harper and Christine Vidner were third and fourth, respectively, in the 20-lb. weight throw event.
