HANOVER, N.H. - The Princeton women's squash team played a number of tight matches Saturday against Dartmouth, but the Tigers were able to get out of Hanover with a 7-2 victory against Dartmouth. Leading the way was No. 1 player Claire Rein-Weston, who won a hard-fought match in a 7-2 win.
"Claire played a very tough match," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "She played four hard games, and Claire was finally able to counter-attack her off her short shots and win the fifth game. It was a good effort on her part."
The win improves Princeton to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy League. The Tigers, who gave a valiant battle against No. 1 Yale, will look to clinch second-place in the Ivy League Sunday against Harvard.
It was a hard-fought battle for the Tigers, but wins like the 3-2 victory for Christina Fast at No. 8 helped Princeton clinch the win.
"She started really slow, and her opponent is a very hard hitter who dominated the 'T' for a while," Ramsay said. "Once she could maneuver the ball into the back corners, she got better looks and adjusted to the pace. She did quite well from there."
