Kaitlin Donovan Named Ivy League Field Hockey Player of the Week
October 23, 2007 | Field Hockey
Sophomore Kaitlin Donovan, who scored the overtime game winner on Saturday at Harvard, was named the Ivy League Field Hockey Player of the Week on Tuesday. Donovan's goal not only sealed the win for Princeton, but it also gave the Tigers a share of the Ivy League Championship for the third consecutive season.
Donovan's goal was the most important goal of Princeton field
hockey season thus far, as she deflected a shot into the Harvard goal in
overtime to clinch at least a share of the 2007 Ivy League Field Hockey
championship. Donovan redirected a shot by senior Paige Schmidt into
the Harvard cage at 11:48 of overtime to lift the Tigers to their third straight
Ivy title and their 13th in the last 14 years. The goal was Donovan's fifth of the season and came on her
third shot on goal of the game, which led the team. Her five goals
ranks third on the team in scoring. Donovan is the first Tiger this season to win an Ivy League weekly award. Several Tigers have been named to the league's honor roll during the season.
