Foster's Goal Lifts Tigers to Win
November 10, 2007 | Women's Ice Hockey
Christine Foster scored four minutes into the third period to lead the Princeton women's hockey team past Boston University 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena. Princeton snapped a three-game winless streak with the win.
Melanie Wallace opened the scoring with lone goal in the first period to put Princeton ahead in a game the Tigers never trailed. The goal was assisted by Foster and Stephanie Denino. BU tied the game early in the second, but senior Lizzie Keady made to 2-1 for the Tigers before the Terriers evened the score late in the second period on a goal from Sasha Sherry and Marykate Oakley.
Foster gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead early in the third period and the Tigers held serve from there and won 4-2 as junior Annie Greenwood added an empty netter in the final minute. Maddie Endicott and Sherry assisted on the Foster goal, while Oakley had the helper on Greenwood's score.
Kristen Young made 26 saves in the win as Princeton moved to 2-3-2 on the season. The Tigers are at top-ranked New Hampshire tomorrow.
