TROY, N.Y. -- The Princeton women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep with a 3-0 win at Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Laura Martindale, sophomore Melanie Wallace and senior Brittany Salmon scored for Princeton in the win.
The Tigers jumped to a 1-0 lead with the game first goal when Martindale netted the first goal of her career at 14:10 of the first period. The goal came a day after she recorded her first point in Friday's win at Union.
Princeton extended its lead with two power-play goals early in the second period. First, Salmon scored her fifth of the season from freshman Sasha Sherry and then Wallace scored from senior Lizzie Keady and junior Christine Foster.
Princeton held the lead from there as it secured its second consecutive shutout. Junior Kristen Young was in net for both and she made 12 saves for the win.
Princeton is now .500 at 7-7-2 overall and 5-5-1 in the league. Princeton is now off until a Jan. 4-5 series at Connecticut.
