Tigers Down Slippery Rock and Maryland in ECAC Tournament, Will Meet Brown in Title Game Sunday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The 18th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team began its defense of the ECAC Tournament championship with a 16-5 win over Slippery Rock and a 13-7 win over Maryland on Saturday in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the tournament. Princeton will meet Brown tomorrow at 2 p.m., in the titla game.
Princeton raced out to a 4-0 lead after one quarter and continued to pressure Slippery Rock throughout the game, pushing its lead to 4-0 after a quarter, and 7-2 at the half. Seven Tigers scored goals in the game with all seven contributing multiple goals. Freshmen Phoebe Champion and Lauren Sabb both scored three times to pace the Tigers. Junior Natalie Kim got the win in goal with eight saves.

Princeton then advanced to Sunday's championship game with a 13-7 win over Maryland in the semifinals. Princeton jumped to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter and made it 10-4 by the half. Senior Elyse Colgan scored four goals to lead all scorers, while classmate Karina Reyner scored three goals for the Tigers. Kim made nine saves to post her second win of the day for Princeton.
