OT Goal Sinks Women's Hockey Against Clarkson
November 22, 2008 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON -- Kimberly McKenney's goal midway through the overtime period lifted Clarkson to a 3-2 win over the Princeton women's hockey team Saturday afternoon at Baker Rink.
The Tigers outshot the Golden Knights 37-22, but the game was tied most of the way thanks to pairs of goals in quick succession in the first and third periods. Julie Johnson scored her first goal of the season 12 minutes into the game to tie it less than four minutes after Clarkson's Juana Barbieau opened the scoring.
In the third period, Princeton's Danielle DiCesare scored a power-play goal just before the midway point of the stanza, but that lead lasted only 77 seconds before Clarkson's Tegan Schroeder tied it again.
Near the end of a crucial overtime penalty killing attempt for Princeton, McKenney blasted from just in front of the blue line and found some space inside the left post for the game winner.
Princeton drops to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the league, while Clarkson is now 6-5-3 overall and 4-1-1 in ECACHL. The Tigers will travel to Boston College next Friday for a non-league contest.
