Tigers Take Fifth at IC4A and Send Two to Nationals

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/21/08) ? Senior Michael Maag and freshman Brian Leung will represent the Princeton men's cross country team at the NCAA Championship on Monday, Nov. 14.
Both runners automatically qualified for the championship with their times at regionals.
The men's 10k race will begin at approximately 12:48 p.m., LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The race will be televised live on CBS College Sports and on-line at www.NCAA.org.
Leung will be runner in his first national championship, as a freshman. He does have the competitive edge, as the New Jersey State Cross Country Champion.
Maag has competed at the course every year of his collegiate career. This will be the second time he has ran in the national championship, posting a time of 30:44.5 last year when he earned All-America honors. His best time on the course is 24:01.5, which he posted during Pre-Nationals in 2007.
Other members of the team competed at the 100th Annual IC4A Cross Country Championship today, Nov. 22. Despite not having its top two runners, and running five freshman, the Tigers finished fifth on the five-mile course at Van Cortland Park.
Freshman Max Kaulbach was the first Tiger across the line, finishing in 27th place with a time of 25:55. Classmate Sean Wilson clocked in at 26:00 and two seconds later sophomore Zach Predmore followed. Junior Jimmy Joy cross the line at 26:07, followed by freshman Peter Maag at 26:12 as the final Princeton scorers. Freshmen Thomas Dialynas and Joe Stilin also finished the course in under 28 minutes for the Tigers.
