Tigers Win Nine Events At Quad Meet

Princeton athletes won nine events in a quad meet with Penn, Rutgers and Villanova held at Weaver Track Saturday afternoon, including the top marks in seven of the eight field events. The meet was unscored on a team basis.
Among the highlights for the Tigers in the field events were a hammer throw of nearly 60 meters (more than 195 feet) from Craig Pearce and an outstanding throw in the shot put by Eric Plummer, whose winning toss was nearly 60 feet (59' 9 1/2").
On the track, Shafiq Kashmiri had an excellent day, winning the 100 meters in 10.74 seconds and finishing a close second in the 200 meters in a hand-time 21.2. He also ran in the 4X100 relay for Princeton.
In the hurdles, Tom Zozokos continued his excellent season with a winning time of 52.62 in the 400, while Chris Vasich crossed the line second in 15.04 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Ian Fox had the best high jump of the day, 6' 10 3/4," while Will Byrd was the only pole vaulter to clear 16 feet (16' 2 3/4"). George Abyad and Joel Karacozoff took the top two spots in the discus for Princeton.
The Tigers host the annual Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Track next weekend.
