Tigers Sweep Top Six Spots in HYP Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The seventh-ranked Princeton women's cross country team turned in a strong performance on Saturday afternoon at the annual HYP cross country meet, held at the Yale Golf Course. Princeton had the top six finishers in the race, led by senior Megan Brandeland's winning time of 17:45.61.
Brandeland led a parade of Tigers across the finish line as Princeton runners finished first through seventh and recorded nine of the top 11 times. Sophomores Sarah Cummings and Ashley Higginson each finished within a second of Brandeland. Freshman Alex Banfich finished fourth, with junior Liz Costello placing fifth.
With the top six finishers in the race, the Tigers won with a team score of 15. Harvard was second with 52 points and Yale third with 71.
The Tigers will compete in two races next Friday, with one group competing at the Notre Dame Invitational and the other at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.
