HANOVER, N.H. -- The Princeton women's hockey team scored three straight goals in the second period to overcome an early deficit and defeated third-ranked Dartmouth 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Thompson Arena. The win gave Princeton a series sweep at Harvard and Dartmouth for the first time.
Trailing by a goal entering the second period, Princeton blitzed the Dartmouth goal, firing 20 shots on goaltender Carli Clemis. The Tigers drew even at 2:27 when junior Melanie Wallace scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway.
Three minutes later sophomore Caroline Park netted her first goal of the season and freshman Julie Johnson scored the third goal of the stanza, and her fifth of the season, unassisted on the power play at 10:17. Sophomore Sasha Sherry and senior Christine Foster assisted on the Park goal. Senior Katherine Dineen added a fourth goal with 1:51 remaining.
Senior goaltender Kristen Young made 26 saves for the win, while Carlis made 30 saves in the loss.
Princeton's weekend sweep avenged being swept by the two teams in November at home. The Tigers improved to 9-8-1 overall with the win and are now all alone in fifth place in the standings with a 6-5-0 league mark.
Princeton returns to action next weekend at Rensselaer and Union.
