October 20, 2009 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON (10/20/09) -- Carrie Diamond became the third member of Princeton's freshman class to receive an Ivy League Rookie of the Week Award this season as the league recognized her two-goal performance in the field hockey team's 5-1 win at Brown.
Diamond scored twice in Princeton's win at Brown on Saturday afternoon. She scored Princeton's fourth and fifth goals in the win, both coming late in the first half. They were the second and third goals of her collegiate career and it was her first multiple-goal game.
Diamond joins classmates Michelle Cesan and Julia Reinprecht as Tigers who have won a Rookie of the Week honor this season.
Sophomore Katie Reinprecht was named to the League's honor roll after scoring two goals and adding an assist for five points in Princeton's 5-1 win at Brown. She opened the scoring and added Princeton's third goal and then drew the assist on the team's fifth tally. The defending Ivy League Player of the Year now has nine goals and eight assists for 26 points to rank second on the team in scoring.
Diamond, Reinprecht and the Tigers improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the Ivy League with a 5-1 win at Brown on Saturday. The win was Princeton's 14th Ivy win in a row and kept the team a game ahead of the competition in the race for the 2009 Ivy League championship.
Princeton remained fourth in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. The Tigers are back in action on Saturday afternoon at Harvard.
