Head Coaching Trio Talks Postseason In NCAA Edition Of TigerCast
November 19, 2009 | Field Hockey, Men's Soccer, Women's Cross Country
With three Princeton teams preparing for NCAA competition, the head coaches of men's soccer, field hockey and women's cross country join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Men's soccer coach Jim Barlow opens the show by talking about the impressive run from below .500 to hosting an NCAA tournament game Thursday night against Bucknell. With no margin for error, Princeton took on soccer powers St. John's and Harvard in a run that led the Tigers to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2001.
Field hockey coach Kristen Holmes-Winn has guided Princeton back to the NCAA semifinal for the first time since, like men's soccer, the fall of 2001. This is Princeton's fourth trip overall to the final weekend of the championship season, and the Tigers will open with top-seeded and three-time reigning NCAA champion Maryland, a team it took to overtime during the regular season.
Women's cross country coach Peter Farrell recently watched his team post the first ever team sweep at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. With three-time individual Ivy champion Liz Costello leading the way, Princeton is looking for a second consecutive Top-5 finish at the NCAA championships.
