Men's Cross Country Sends Freshmen To Fordham Fiasco

NEW YORK (9/12/09) - The Princeton men's cross country team competed in its first meet of the season at the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday, Sept. 12. The race was held at Van Cortlandt Park, the site of the Ivy League Heptagonal.
The Tigers used the race as preparation for the future, as only newcomers ran the course to get a feel for the terrain.
Princeton finished 11th as a team, earning 300 points. The six harriers ran in a group, finishing 64th through 69th. George Galasso came across the line first with a time of 29:05.94, followed by Peter Callahan at 29:06.17. Nathan Mathabane, Michael Palmisano and James Webb clocked in at 29:06.40, 29:06.63 and 29:06.88, respectively. Rounding out the Tiger runners was Michael Franklin, coming in at 29:07.09
The Tigers will compete in the Cappy Anderson Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19. The course on the campus of the Maryland-Eastern Shore, will also serve as the site of the NCAA Regional.
