Men's XC Wins Cappy Anderson Invitational

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (9/19/09) - The Princeton men's cross country team won the Cappy Anderson Invitational held at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The team earned 29 points in the 8k race, nine points better than second-place St. Joseph's that finished with 38 points, while Pittsburgh was third with 84.
Sophomore Donn Cabral and senior captain Rob Speare ran the course together and finished first and second in the race, just 0.02 seconds apart, at 25:13.49 and 25:13.51.
The next Tiger across the line was sophomore Sean Wilson, clocking in at 25:39.25 for seventh place, followed by junior Hudson Andrews at 25:42.81 for ninth place. Junior Dennis Walsh was right behind him in 10th place, finishing in 25:47.86. Eight other Tigers finished in the top 25 of the 109 runners.
The Tigers will return to this same course on Saturday, Nov. 14 when it races the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Princeton will take a week off to prepare for its biggest race thus far in the season, the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Oct. 2. The race will feature some of the best squads in the country. In addition, Princeton will also send runners to the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University the same day.
