Blosser Scores Two More, Women's Soccer Tops Dartmouth
October 02, 2010 | Women's Soccer
Four days after scoring twice to help Princeton to a non-league win over Fairfield, the sophomore's touch carried over to the Ivy slate as the Tigers topped Dartmouth 2-1 Saturday afternoon on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
At 2-0 in Ivy play for the eighth time in 12 seasons and 6-3 overall, Princeton is tied atop the Ivy with Penn at six points apiece.
Before the Tigers have the opportunity to improve their Ivy record next Saturday against Brown at Roberts Stadium, Princeton will have another skill-sharpening chance Monday at American.
The Dartmouth match served as a test of the Tigers resolve when with less than three minutes before the half, the Big Green's Marina Moschitto knocked in a pass across the box from Chrissy Lozier to pull even. Twenty-five minutes earlier, Blosser had put Princeton ahead when she converted in space after a pass from behind by Diane Metcalf-Leggette.
The Moschitto goal was the only one Dartmouth (3-5-1, 1-1-0) got. Princeton's defense forced goalkeeper Kristin Watson to have to make only two saves, and Blosser gave Princeton the lead 13 minutes into the second half when she recovered a ball in the Big Green box and fired it in.
Blosser leads the Ivy League with 18 points on six goals and six assists, also both league-bests, through the team's first nine games. The sophomore's three game-winning goals tie her for the Ivy lead alongside fellow Tiger Jen Hoy, who has seen three of her five goals on the season make the difference.
The Tigers' three-game overall winning streak will be on the line Monday night at American when it faces the Eagles for the eighth time, all since 2000, in a series in which Princeton remains undefeated.
