Women's Track & Field Wins Four at Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/21/10) - The Princeton women's track and field team won four events at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 20. The non-scoring meet was held at both Princeton and at The Lawrenceville School.
Junior Emma Ruggiero won the weight throw with a throw of 16.19 meters. Teammate sophomore Alyssa Pehmoeller was third throwing the weight to 14.48 meters.
The Tigers swept the pole vault with freshman Tory Worthen putting up another victory, reaching 3.90 meters. Sophomore Lydia Arias followed up with a second-place mark of 3.60 meters while freshman Lauren Tauscher was third at 3.50 meters.
The track events were run in sections, and for the first time this season Princeton ran the 55 meters and 55 meter hurdles.
Sophomore Eileen Moran was second in the 55-meter dash at 7.17, with freshman Erin Guty clocking in at 7.19.
Junior Bianca Mathabane won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.38. Classmate Lauren Barber was second, clocking in at 8.53.
Sophomore Danielle Glaeser tied for third in the 200. She was first in section 2 at 26.16 while Delaware's Asia Hollis had the same time in section 1 where she finished third.
In the 800, junior Libby Bliss took top honors with a time of 2:16.82 her fastest time in the 800 this season. Sophomore Michelle Yousefian followed at 2:19.98 for second place.
In the mile, freshman Abby Hewitt came in third with a time of 5:11.85 her first time running the mile this indoor season.
Princeton will compete at the Ivy League Heptagonal next weekend Feb. 26-27 at Dartmouth.
