Women's Track Places 8th at Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup

COLLEGE PARK, Pa. (2/6/10) - Freshman Tory Worthen won the pole vault at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup on the campus of Penn State University, as the Princeton women's track and field team finished eighth out of 14 teams.
Worthen cleared 3.97 meters beating out 19 other competitors. The next best mark in the even was 3.87 recorded by Stephanie Duffy of South Florida.
Junior Thanithia Billings recorded a new personal best in the weight throw, where she finished third. She threw to 17.40 meters on her second throw of the day, beating her previous best of 16.28 meters. She went on to place second in the shot put with a mark of 14.21 meters.
The 4x400 relay team of Joie Hand, Eileen Moran, Danielle Glaeser and Melissa Zajdel finished in fifth place with a time of 3:48.10 to give the team four points.
Glaeser also ran in the 200-meter dash where she clocked in at 25.74. She continues to steadily improve on her time, after posting a 25.90 earlier this season after a season-best of 25.99 last year.
Junior KC Wade tied for seventh in the high jump clearing 1.65 meters to also add points to the team total.
The Tigers also sent selected athletes to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at The Armory in New York City.
Highlighting the meet was the Tigers' peformances in the 3000-meter run. Freshman Lauren Zumbach reached the finals of the women's 3000-meter run in the eastern division and placed ninth with a time of 10:27.97. Alexa Glencer was second in the women's 3000-meter run in the college division clocking in at 9:48.29.
Princeton hosts the HYP meet on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Jadwin Gym.
