King Records Personal Best at the Columbia Last Chance Meet

NEW YORK, N.Y. (3/6/10) - The Princeton men's indoor track and field team competed at the Columbia Last Chance Meet at The Armory on Friday, March 5.
In section one of the 3000, the Tigers went 1-5 with freshman Michael Franklin leading the pack with a time of 8:31.31. Classmate George Galasso was right behind at 9:31.83. In third place was sophomore Peter Maag at 8:34.33, fourth was sophomore Thomas Dialynas at 8:35.90. All four runners' times were season bests. In addition senior Elliott Welder ran an 8:38.62.
Freshman James Webb posted the best time in the 3000 crossing the line at 8:16.84 in section 2.
Four Tigers ran the mile with freshman Nathane Mathabane posting the best time at 4:07.72. Junior Tony Salvatore and sophomore Tyler King went 1-2 in section 1. Salvatore had a season best time of 4:12.21, while King set a new personal best at 4:16.50. Senior Jeff Carbonella rounded out the group with a time of 4:18.94.
Freshman Matt Gonzalez ran the 400 for the first time this season and won section 3 with a time of 50.41. Classmate Michael Palmisano took third in section 3 of the 800 at 1:53.55.
In the center of the track, senior Justin Frick competed in the high jump and cleared 2.10 meters. The Tigers then went 1-2-3 in the pole vault, led by sophomore David Slovenski. Slovenski vaulted to 4.95 meters, while sophomore Derek Hynes and senior Chad Faulkner reached 4.80 meters.
Princeton will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame, the final event before NCAAs, later today.
