PHILADELPHIA (4/23/10) - After a busy Thursday at the Penn Relays, the Princeton women's track & field team competed in just three events on Friday at Franklin Field.
The Tigers finished eighth in the 4x1500 Championship of America. The team of Ashley Higginson, Sarah Cummings, Alexis Mikaelian and Mel Newberry clocked in at 18:06.75. Higginson gave Princeton a great start at 4:27.5 and Newbery gave a 4:31.7 in the final leg. It was just the second time this season that Princeton ran the 4x1500 and beat that time by more than an entire minute. The mark of 18:06.75 also takes down the former Princeton record of 18:08.24 set in 2004 by three-time All-America Emily Kroshus, All-America Catha Mullen, Meredith Lambert and two-time All-America Cack Ferrell.
The 4x200 ran a 1:41.89 and junior Bianca Williams reached 11.12 meters (36-5.75) in the Eastern Triple Jump.
Princeton will run the 4x800 Champion of America tomorrow at 1:55 p.m., and will also be competing at the TCNJ Invitational.
