Men's Track & Field Wins Five Events at Elite Meet

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/1/10) - The Princeton men's track & field team won five events at the Elite Meet on Saturday, May 1 at Weaver Stadium, in the team's final tune-up before hosting the 2010 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on May 8-9.
Sophomore Austin Hollimon won the 400-meter dash and set a new personal best with a time of 46.80. His time was .14 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher while the next collegiate runner clocked in at 48.62. His previous best time was 47.01.
Freshman Russell Dinkins picked up a victory in the 800 as he clocked in at 1:49.88, the only runner to finish the even in under 1:50. Dinkins time is a new personal best, squashing his former time of 1:50.19. Freshman Michael Palmisano was fourth at 1:52.49.
Freshman Conor McCullough won the hammer throw with a throw of 67.93 meters. Junior Craig Pearce was third, reaching 61.75. McCullough followed up with a third-place finish in the discus later in the day, reaching a personal best 48.56 meters. Junior George Abyad was second in the event throwing to 48.71 meters.
Junior Dion Lehman won the long jump, launching himself to 7.09 meters. Teammate and senior Scott Henkelman was third with a mark of 6.99. In the triple jump, sophomore Isaac Serwanga reached 14.41 to take third.
Junior Justin Frick and Ian Fox went 1-2 in the high jump. Frick cleared 2.18 meters and Fox reached 2.09. Both were season best marks.
Brothers Duane and Derek Hynes went 2-3, respectively, in the pole vault as both cleared 4.70 meters.
The 4x100 relay earned a second-place finish with the squad's best time of the season. Jason Reagor, Ricky Kearney, Ivan Charbonneau, Sebastian Steffen cruised in at 40.64. Charbonneau would earn his second-place finish of the afternoon in the 100, when he crossed the line at 10.88.
Senior Tom Zozokos and junior Adam Thayer both posted fourth-place finishes in the hurdles. Zozokos finished the 400-meter hurdles in 53.60, while Thayer had a time of 15.06 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Princeton hosts the 2010 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship next weekend, May 8-9 at Weaver Stadium. The Tigers will look to make it two in a row, after winning the indoor title in February.
