Maida picked up her fourth and fifth wins of the season in goal for the Tigers thanks to 105 shutout minutes. She played a shut out opening half against Dartmouth on Friday for a win and then made six saves to blank eighth-ranked Syracuse 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The six saves matched her career high of her young collegiate career.
Maida has a 5-0 record in the Princeton goal this season. She also has a 0.44 goals-against average and a .889 saver percentage, numbers which rank second and third in the nation, respectively.
Cesan was named to the Ivy League's Honor Roll following a five-point weekend. She scored a goal and had an assist in the team's 9-1 win over Dartmouth, then gave Princeton a 1-0 win with her goal late against eighth-ranked Syracuse. She now has three goals and four assists this season.
In the Polls
Princeton remained fourth in the latest Kookaburra / NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The Tigers are one of four remaining undefeated teams in the nation and received three first-place votes. The top four remained unchanged with North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia holding the spots ahead of Princeton. Connecticut jumped into the fifth spot. The Tigers currently rank second in the simulated RPI provided by fieldhockeycorner.com.
National Stats
The Tigers also remained the most proficient team in the nation offensively and have averaged 5.40 goals per game. Princeton is the only team averaging greater than five goals in every game this season. Princeton also has the third-lowest goals against in the country.
In the individual national stats, Kathleen Sharkey continues to lead the nation in both points and goals per game. Cesan ranks 21st in points, with Julia Reinprecht ranking seventh in assists per game. Cesan (14th) and Alexandra Douwes (32) are also ranked in the assist category.
Princeton returns to action on Saturday afternoon with an Ivy League contest at Yale. The Tigers return to Class of '52 Stadium a week from today to host second-ranked Maryland at 6 p.m.
