Katie Reinprecht Scores Twice to Spark US in Pan Am Opener
October 20, 2011 | Field Hockey
"I was able to put the finishing touches on two great balls early on," said Reinprecht. "Katelyn (Falgowski) fed me a great ball and I was able to deflect it in for the first goal. I was in the right place at the right time and able to deflect the second ball as well."
Reinprecht scored the first two goals for the Americans, which are now 1-0 in their pool. Chile defeated Cuba 6-0 in the pool's other game. The USA will face Chile on Friday, October 21 in both team's next match.
"Today's match was about starting the tournament off right," said Head Coach Lee Bodimeade. 'I thought we handled the ball well and made some very good decisions. Katie Reinprecht was certainly the catalyst for starting us off and getting the first two goals, but with a 5-nil win, everyone contributed."
In addition to Katie, Princeton's Julia Reinprecht and Michelle Cesan also played in the win, with Cesan registering a shot on goal.
