Banfich Takes Fourth to Lead WXC to Fifth at Regionals

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (11/12/11) - Senior Alex Banfich finished fourth and helped the Princeton women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Princess Anne, Md.
Banfich cruised across the line at 21:37.7 to finish in fourth place in the 6k race. Juniors Alexis Mikaelian and Greta Feldman ran in together at 22:32.3 and 22:32.9, respectively, earning 23rd and 24th place. Freshman Jackie Nicholas was the fourth Tiger across the line with a time of 23:01.3 and sophomore Marisa Cummings scored with a 23:03.9.
Villanova and Georgetown finished in a first-place tie with matching scores of 57 place. West Virginia, Penn State and Princeton followed.
Banfich's fourth-place finish guarantees her a place in the NCAA Championships. The NCAA will make the official announcement on Sunday evening.
The NCAA Championships will be held on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
