Women's Hockey Skates to 2-2 Draw with Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio (12/30/11) - The Princeton women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 draw with Ohio State on Friday, Dec. 30 at the OSU Ice Rink in the first game of a two-game series.
After a scoreless first period, the teams traded power-play goals in the second and traded goals again in the third.
Ally Tarr put the Buckeyes on the scoreboard 36 seconds into the second frame converting on her teams' first power play of the game. Tarr picked up a Natalie Spooner rebound and went under Princeton netminder Rachel Weber's leg.
Sophomore Gabie Figueroa scored her first goal of the season with help from senior Danielle DiCesare and junior Kelly Cooke at 7:13 on the power play to tie the game.
Tarr had a chance to take a 2-1 lead at 2:31 of the third when the Buckeyes were awarded a penalty shot after a trip in the slot. Tarr's penalty shot was no good, as she hit the post.
After earning the secondary assist on the first goal, Paige Semenza scored a goal of her own at 5:41 with a back-handed shot. Spooner and Kelly Wild earned assists on the goal.
Sophomore Sally Butler forced overtime with a goal at 16:41 with help from classmate Rose Alleva.
The teams finished in a shootout with the Buckeyes winning 2-1. The game will be recorded as a tie.
DiCesare went first and scored on Knapp. Tarr got her shot past Weber. Junior Corey Stearns missed and Spooner followed up with a made shot. Butler would miss Princeton's next attempt.
The teams will face each other again tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 31 at noon.
