UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (2/5/11) - A week after recording the Princeton record in the 4x400, the relay team bested its time by two seconds, and set a new Ivy League record.
Mike Eddy, Tom Hopkins, Russell Dinkins and Austin Hollimon finished in 3:09.35., better than their time of 3:11.63 recorded last week at the New York Road Runners. The group beat PSU's relay team by nearly four seconds, as the Nittany Lions took second with a time of 3:13.16.
Junior Tyler King won the mile with a new personal best time of 4:09.46. It would come down to a heated race between he and PSU's Tyler Corkedale. King would clock in at 4:09.4606 ahead of Corkedale at 4:09.4655.
King would take the led off in the distance medley relay which finished second. He, Michael Palmisano, Tom Scott and Jonathan Vitez ran a 10:14.81.
Hollimon posted another terrific time in the 400, crossing the line at 46.94. He was the only sprinter to finish sub-47 seconds. Hopkins had a new personal best in the event at 48.25 to take fifth place.
Dinkins was the runner-up in the 800 with a time 1:50.12. Senior Jordan Sawadogo, who recently rejoined the team, ran a 1:51.69 for sixth place and a new personal record.
Junior Max Kaulbach would also give his team points taking fifth in the 3k at 8:26.47.
In the pole vault, juniors David Slovenski and Derek Hynes both reached 4.65 meters. Freshman David Coneway reached new personal record in the pole vault clearing 4.50 meters.
Freshman Omar Jarrett launched to 1.98 meters in the high jump, a new personal record. Although he didn't earn any team points in the 600, Nilan Schnure ran a 1:22.74, a new personal record and the Tigers' best time in the event.
PSU would win its own meet with 172 points, followed by Cornell with 91 and Princeton third with 64 out of 11 teams.
Princeton didn't fully compete as a team however, as a pack of distance runners competed at The GaReat Meet in Geneva, Ohio.
