Men's Track & Field Wins Four at Rutgers Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (4/9/11) - The Princeton men's track & field team won four events at the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday, April 9 at Bauer Track & Field Complex.
Sophomore Sebastian Steffen reached the finals of the 100-meter dash. He finished fourth at 11.13 after running 10.95 in the prelims. He posted Princeton's best time in the 200 at 22.40 to place seventh.
Senior Adam Thayer reached the finals of the 110-meter hurdles. He finished third at 14.77, shaving 0.13 seconds off his preliminary time.
Freshman Tom Hopkins won the 400 beating out 39 other runners with a time of 48.00. Senior Mike Eddy was third at 48.63
Freshman Michael Williams ran 1:55.30 in the 800 to take fourth out of 52.
In the 1500, sophomore Michael Franklin clocked in at 4:01.09 for sixth place and freshman Jonathan Vitez was eighth at 4:02.36.
Junior Peter Maag won the 3000 clocking in at 8:43.80, fasting that 22 other runners. Freshman Tyler Udland was right behind at 8:45.82 for second place.
Junior Nilan Schnure ran 56.30 in the 400-meter hurdles to place sixth out of 18.
Both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays finished second but were the top collegiate relays. The 4x100 of Jason Reagon, Ricky Kearney, Steffen and Hopkins ran 42.55, while Jason Dzuranin, Matt Gonzalez, Schnute and Scott ran 3:18.80 as members of the 4x400.
Junior David Slovenski won the pole vault clearing 4.80 meters, while classmate Derek Hynes was third at 4.65.
In the jumps, freshman Damon McLean was second in the long jump reaching 7.00 meters with Hopkins jumping to 6.99 for third place. Freshman Omar Jarrett was fourth in the high jump clearing 1.98 meters.
Senior George Abyad won the discus throwing to 48.48 meters, the best mark of 19 throwers. Abyad would place fifth in the shot put with a mark of 14.86. Freshman Jake Taylor was seventh with a throw of 14.13. Taylor would have the top mark for the Tigers in the hammer at 42.38.
Freshman Alec Bingaman competed in his first javelin as a Tiger and finished eighth with a throw of 42.28 meters. Classmate Brad Pelisek earned a mark of 41.82 for ninth place.
Princeton will compete at the Tom Jones Invitational at the University of Florida next weekend.
