4x400 Sets Record as Men's Track Qualifies in Two More Events

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (5/28/11) - The Princeton men's 4x400 set an Ivy League record and along with two individuals qualified for the NCAA Championships on the final day of the NCAA East Regional on Saturday, May 28 on the campus of Indiana University.
The 4x400 relay set an Ivy League record and a program record for the second time this season. Freshman Tom Hopkins, sophomore Russell Dinkins, senior Mike Eddy and junior Austin Hollimon ran 3:05.86 taking down its previous best mark of 3:07.57. The time qualified the relay for the nationals in Des Moines, Iowa, as they placed fifth overall and second in heat 2. The 4x400 relay semifinals will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 8:20 p.m.
Junior Donn Cabral qualified for his second event, after advancing in the steeplechase yesterday, finishing fifth in the 5000. Cabral ran 14:06.55 in the 5k to place fifth out of 48. Senior Mark Amirault also qualified finishing sixth at 14:08.03. The pair will run in the national final on Saturday, June 11 at 1:21 p.m.
Freshman Chris Bendtsen ran 14:31.83, classmate Alejandro Arroyo Yamin clocked in at 14:34.30 and senior Kyle Soloff finished at 15:02.30.
Senior George Abyad placed 20th in the discus with a mark of 52.01 meters (170-08), hitting the mark on his first throw but couldn't improve with two fouls on his final two tosses.
