Men Finish Third at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (9/29/11) - The Princeton men's cross country team finished third at the Notre Dame Invitational paced by a second-place showing of senior Donn Cabral.
The Tigers competed against five other nationally-ranked squads and 25 total teams and finished ahead of No. 3 Stanford, who finished fourth. BYU (14th) won the race with a low score of 46 points, followed by Florida State (10th) with 93. Princeton earned 138 points for third place, 64 points in front of Stanford. New Mexico (21) and Ohio State (25) finished eighth and 12th, respectively.
It was a race to the finish with BYU's Miles Batty slightly outkicking Cabral to win the race at 23:59, with Cabral one second back at 24:00. It was a tight finish, with he top five runners being separated by just five seconds.
Senior Brian Leung crossed the line at 24:24 to finish in 14th place. Freshman Sam Pons had a 25th-place finish with a time of 24:44. Senior Peter Maag and sophomore Tyler Udland both landed at the finish at 24:54 in 48th and 49th place, respectively. Freshman Eddie Owens, and a trio of sophomores Jonathan Vitez, Alejandro Arroyo Yamin and Chris Bendtsen also ran in the Blue Race.

At the Paul Short Run on the Lehigh campus, the Tigers finished 21st out of 45 teams in the gold 8k race.
Senior Thomas Dialynas was the top Tiger across the line at 25:24 placing 77th out of 402. A pair of freshmen, Matt McDonald and Connor Martin finished one second apart at 25:34 and 25:35. Junior Michael Franklin and sophomore William Brown rounded out the scoring with times of 25:43 and 25:56. Senior Joe Stilin and junior Michael Palmisano both finished in under 27 minutes.
No. 4 Oklahoma won the race followed by No. 22 Georgetown in second.
