PRINCETON, N.J. (10/31/14) - Princeton will host the 2014 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1 at West Windsor Fields. The women's 6k race is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
Princeton and Dartmouth are the teams that everyone is looking at to run away with the title this year. Dartmouth is the reigning Heps champion while Princeton has won five Heps titles in the last eight years. Princeton is the top-ranked Ivy League team coming in at No. 25 in the national poll, while Dartmouth is No. 26.
The Tigers' top harrier is the arguably the league's top harrier and sophomore Megan Curham has it in her to win the individual title. She was second at Pre-Nats and seventh at Notre Dame and was fourth at Heps last year. Curham was a two-time All-America during her freshman year at Princeton, and was the first freshman to earn All-America honors in cross country in program history. Princeton's consistant No. 2 runner this year is sophomore Kathryn Fluehr. She had a great performance at Pre-Nats two weeks ago and looks should improve upon her 18th-place finish from Heps last year. Freshman Natalie Rathjen has been a consistent scorer all season as well and looks to breakout in her first Heps. Other scorers from last year back in action are senior Lindsay Eysenbach and junior Kathryn Little. Joining them in the box are junior Maria Seykora, junior Birdie Hutton, sophomore Ally Markovich, sophomore Katie Hanss, freshman Lydon Kersting and freshman Melissa Reed.
Princeton was fourth at Heps last year with Dartmouth taking the team title thanks to Abby D'Agostino's second individual crown. Cornell was second and Harvard was third.
