PRINCETON, N.J. (11/30/14) - Princeton scored twice in the third period but it wasn't enough to top the No. 2 ranked Golden Gophers as Minnesota won a 5-2 game on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Hobey Baker Rink.

Princeton has played a tough schedule lately, after two games against this No. 2 Minnesota team following games against No. 5 Clarkson and No. 4 Quinnipiac all within the last eight days.
"It's still not over with Harvard and Dartmouth coming up," Princeton head coach Jeff Kampersal said regarding the schedule. "It's been a really tough stretch but a character-building stretch. We started the season off well. Today I thought we got dominated. Kimberly saved us big time. I'm proud of the fact that our players don't quit. They go until the buzzer sounds and can't go anymore. They could have packed it in and made it worse but they showed a lot of heart and soul and we'll build from that."
Dani Cameranesi earned her first of three points on the day by interecepting a breakout, stripping the puck at the blue line. She gave it to Maryanne Menefee who played a back-and-forth with Hannah Brandt with Menefee getting the final touch for the goal at 5:37 of the first period.
With Princeton taking a high-sticking call at the close of the first period, Minnesota made it 2-0 29 seconds into the second period with a power-play goal by Milica McMillen. In the top of the circle, Brandt fed Kelly Pannek down low and she slid the puck across the paint to McMillen for the goal.
Cameranesi took advantage of Princeton having a tough time clearing the puck out of the zone and roofed in the third goal at 16:52, as Minnesota took a 3-0 lead at the end of two.
Princeton's scoring leader Kelsey Koelzer added her fourth goal of the season as the Tigers converted on one of four power-play opportunities at 8:39 of the third. Koelzer dumped the puck into the back boards and sophomore Molly Contini got to it and pushed it into the corner for sophomore Hilary Lloyd. Lloyd sent it back to the point for Koelzer who shot through traffic for the goal.
Minnesota scored twice within 1:52, with goals from Brandt and Rachael Bona to expand the Gophers lead to 5-1 at 12:38.
Junior Jaimie McDonell put away the final goal of the game with 18 seconds remaining with help from Maddie Peake and Koelzer. McDonell and Peake were both on top of the goal and took whacks at the puck with McDonell finally getting it past goalie Amanda Leveille. Leveille finished the game with 19 stops.
Princeton wraps up the first half of the season with a trip to Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend, Dec. 6 & 7, the final games of the 2014 calendar year.
