Hopkins and 4x100 Relay Earn Third-Place Finishes on Final Day of IC4As

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/18/14) - Senior Tom Hopkins was third in the 200 and anchored the 4x100 to a third-place finish to highlight the final day of the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Weaver Stadium.
It was a photo finish for second place in the 200 with Hopkins getting edged at the finish line by .01 second. Hopkins clocked 21.09 after running a 21.18 in the prelims yesterday.
Hopkins along with sophomore Dre Nelson, sophomore John Hill and junior Daniel McCord ran 40.61 to finish third in the 4x100 final. The relay put up a 40.49 in the prelims yesterday afternoon.
Senior Michael Williams, who finished third in the prelims of the 1500 yesterday, did not race in the final today.
In the field, senior Omar Jarrett was 11th in the high jump clearing 2.04 (6-8.25), Nana Owusu-Nyantekyi was 13th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.37 (47-1.75) and senior Brad Pelisek was 23rd in the javelin with a throw of 58.48 (191-10).As of 6 p.m., team scores were not available.Up next for the Tigers is finding out who has qualified for the NCAA East Regional. The final descending order list will be posted at 3 p.m., on the NCAA Web site. Challenges and declarations follow with the list of accepted student-athletes released on Thursday at 1p.m., on the NCAA site.
The NCAA East Regional will be held May 29-31 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
